About me
Dr. Keith Abrahams began his LAUSD journey as a kindergarten student at West Vernon Elementary. He then transferred to a diverse magnet school in the 5th grade. Keith learned early in life about the importance of engaging in academic and social exchanges with different perspectives. At the University of California, Berkeley, he continued his quest for understanding race relations and began to plan a future that would provide infrastructures for marginalized students to achieve success. He next received a Master’s Degree in Counseling in a Diverse Society from Eastern Michigan University. At Eastern, Keith began his journey to understanding Organizational Psychology and creating systems that promote positive climates and cultures.
When he returned to Los Angeles, Keith began teaching at 95th Street Elementary before transferring to Aragon a few years later. He received a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Pepperdine University then joined the 1,300 student, 50 teacher Brentwood Science Magnet’s leadership team as the school’s only Assistant Principal. At Brentwood and then later as principal of Palms Elementary, he recommitted to engaging with Organizational Psychology and Systems Thinking by successfully leading the transformation of the school cultures around implicit bias, building capacity, and setting high expectations.
In 2013, Keith, humbly accepted the position of Executive Director of Student Integration Services (Magnets). Most recently, he received his Doctor of Education Degree from the University of Southern California. There, he researched the topic of cultivating educational motivation and resilience for low SES African American students. Currently, he is dedicated to understanding the root causes of deficiencies and creating comprehensive strategic plans that address inequities. Keith has a history of improving academic achievement for marginalized populations and instilling structures that cultivate leaders, promote equitable support to all students, and maximizing efficiencies.
