About me
Andrew Jenkins is currently serving as the Administrator of Instruction for Region West in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Born a trailblazer, Andrew was the principal at Coeur d’Alene Elementary School for 12 years where he led his team to redefine what an elementary education can look like. Always striving to educate, Andrew introduced ideas around balanced literacy to his teachers and supported them in their professional learning by having them work alongside literacy experts in the field, along with monthly book clubs and teacher collaboration. In addition to literacy, his passion for numeracy brought Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) into the classrooms to support students’ mathematical thinking. This was such a successful venture that Coeur d’Alene became a model school for CGI, which is now in over 200 schools across the LAUSD.
