LAUSD Principals' Leadership Institute 2025

Review the key understandings of building Coherence and its alignment to PDSA cycles. Consider the intent/purpose of a PDSA cycle and plan for actions that need to be taken at each stage (Plan, Do, Study, Act). Study Tier 1 and Tier 2 PDSA models to consider ways to schedule cycles across the year.

The District's Strategic Plan calls for increased engagement and collaboration with elected officials and governmental partners. However, much of this engagement work is lead by Los Angeles Unified's Office of Governmental Relations.  With 2024 as an election year, there will increased requests for elected officials who may request to speak at or attend school events, coffee with the principals or other special functions. Come learn about the District's updated guidelines for visits with elected officials and the protocols for informing the Office of Governmental Relations. This will also serve as an opportunity to ask questions to inform additional clarification and resources the District can provide to better support schools and the Regions.

School leaders will learn and plan to establish an Instructional Round structure to use with their teacher PLCs, where teachers lead the process from identifying a problem of practice, making recommendations, implementing action steps, and refining practices as the process continues through the year. Fostering a sense of shared responsibility and building the capacity of teachers PLCs to initiate the changes needed to improve instructional practices. 

This is a panel discussion from Talent and Acquisition, Classified Employment, Staff Relations, Equal Opportunity Section, Risk Management and our Labor Partners Teamsters Local 572 to offer perspectives and assistance and best practices in:

1.  Recruitment, hiring, onboarding new classified employees (new hiring process)
2. Encouraging teamwork, inclusion and a respectful school culture (including handling claims of harassment/discrimination
3. Helping employees manage attendance/understanding District expectations.
