Welcome to our 2024 Principals’ Leadership Institute. At this year’s event, we will have the opportunity for our school leaders to learn together in collaborative sessions that build our collective capacity.


This year’s Principals’ Leadership Institute will be a time for:

  • Radical dreaming for academic success and accelerating student outcomes

PDSA Cycles - High School #04

Review the key understandings of building Coherence and its alignment to PDSA cycles. Consider the intent/purpose of a PDSA cycle and plan for actions that need to be taken at each stage (Plan, Do, Study, Act). Study Tier 1 and Tier 2 PDSA models to consider ways to schedule cycles across the year.

Dream It, Achieve It: Blueprint for Effective Dual Enrollment Programs

In this session school leaders will increase their knowledge on creating or expanding successful dual enrollment programs and strengthen their collaboration with LACCD to provide students with an opportunity to earn college credit while fulfilling high school requirements. It will address the process, from initial planning, to intentional pathway development (i.e., IGETC, CTE)  to ongoing implementation. 

This session aligns with LAUSD’s Strategic Plan Pillar 1- Academic Excellence and leadership goals: Creating a shared vision for high expectations and a culture of learning that supports opportunities (Standards 2) and developing a plan and creating a school environment that supports student success  (Components 2B).

The Role of the School Counselor in Increasing Academic Achievement

School leaders will have an opportunity to explore components of a comprehensive counseling program that can be leveraged to increase student academic achievement. We will discuss the counselor's role within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) (SCF 2.6), which includes using data to establish student outcome goals, implement interventions, and monitor the results. (SCF 1.1, 1.2)

This session aligns with LAUSD’s Strategic Plan Pillar 1- Academic Excellence: College and Career Readiness and PSLF 2B1: Monitors and supports schools’ implementation of a vision of high expectations

Designing Inclusive Educator Activities for Adult SEL

This presentation aims to empower educators in the context of cultivating a positive learning environment which addresses diversity, equity, and inclusion through purposeful inclusion activities that integrate SEL competencies and edtech. In this session, learners will gain insights into best practices that support technology implementation with emphasis on creating an inclusive and equitable culture of adult learning that respects and leverages the diversity of your learners and supports SEL learning. Participants will consider ways to rethink adult learning experiences by exploring the importance of setting an inclusive stage for learning with a purposeful use of technology which cultivates a supportive adult learning environment that is carefully chosen to connect to primary PD focus. Participants will explore active connections and alignment across the LAUSD PSLF/SLF/TLF,  CASEL competencies, and the ISTE Education Leader Standards.
