Empowering Families Through Listening and Socially Conscious Leadership
Thursday May 8, 2025 10:40am - 11:30am PDT
School leaders can create inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environments that promote equity, empower families, and ensure student success by creating safe spaces for every family. School leaders must break down family barriers and listen deeply to caregivers to achieve this. By building strong relationships and honoring families' perspectives, leaders can start their journey to becoming socially conscious leaders. Socially conscious leaders are action-oriented and practice pausing, reflection, and listening. Embracing these elements is central to family engagement, fostering an environment of love and respect to challenge and dismantle oppressive systems.

Rocketing student success through Plan-Do-Study-Act Cycles for principals involves a systematic approach to enhancing educational outcomes. The school instructional leaders lead this process by identifying the Problem of Practice (PoP), developing a clear plan including targeted instruction, implementing plans, studying the assessment and progress monitoring results, and acting on what they have learned to improve continuously.  By utilizing productive instructional groups and standard-based learning assignments, we aim to create a conducive academic climate for scholars to be ready for the world.
