In an era that demands critical thinking, communication, and deep understanding to be successful in our global society, Socratic Seminar stands out as a transformative instructional strategy that engages students in meaningful dialogue and inquiry. This workshop is designed for secondary school leaders who want to build a culture of intellectual discourse and elevate student voice. Participants will explore the foundations of Socratic Seminar, including the role of open-ended questioning, text-based discussion, and student-led dialogue. Participants will learn how to support teachers in planning and facilitating Socratic Seminar opportunities that foster academic language development, active listening, and collaborative thinking, including how to embed effective supports for diverse and multilingual learners.
